THURSDAY
What an amazing Thursday!!!! Majors and minors were in full swing.
I got to see how to sacrifice a bunt. A laser gun was used at lax. Three on three on the ice. Basketball had an array of different drills and same with soccer.
It was just as busy at the lake. Bulls-eyes were made in archery and visors were made in arts & crafts. Three different games of flag football and volley ball on the far field.
Choose up was the best. Campers challenged counselors to a full field soccer game. By the end of the game the entire camp was there and cheering.
Dinner was every-ones favorite. Thursday is always cookout. Nice to eat up on the hill and hang out.
This evening was make your own Sundas. Koop is always at the end of the line giving his famous whip cream shots. Check out the pics that will be posted tomorrow.
WEDNESDAY
After two days of heat and humidity the temperatures dropped and we had the most amazing day to be up on the fields.
After a series of stretches soccer majors had some tough drills. While dong the drills they were divided into groups and the drills became a relay race.
Lax majors split into offense and defense and used a small part of field to practice there attack on goal.
A group of boys in weight training and fitness were out on the fields doing aerobics, push-ups and 40 yard sprints. This has been a popular activity this summer and campers are getting a lot out of it.
TUESDAY
Not quite as hot as yesterday but drink plenty of water and sunblock was the order after breakfast.
Up on the fields this morning I saw baseball majors in the batting cages and a great flag football game was in progress too.
The lake had canoes, wake boarders, water tubing, and fishermen on the dock. My favorite spot on a hot day is the ice rink. Saw the seniors having a game this afternoon.
Evening activity is BSL leagues. The commissioner divides the camp into teams and they compete in an array of different activities. At the end of camp the team with the most wins is presented with the biggest trophy…. next to the Stanley Cup that I have ever seen.
MONDAY
A great start today. All activities were in motion.
I got to watch an amazing soccer game after drills. Lax majors were working on stick handling, speed and accuracy in shooting.
Hockey majors got their lockers and were on the ice. Coach Ward was out there observing and demonstrating different drills. I heard there was really hard skating.
The rink was the place to be today. This was the hottest day of the summer. Happy to hear it’s going to cool off this week.
At the lake one of our campers demonstrated a canoe over canoe rescue. He won the lily pad of the day!! This drill can be watched on U Tube. Very impressive.
Line up is before dinner. This is where the camp gets to hear “shout outs” The campers are applauded for their accomplishments. We heard quite a few today.
THURSDAY
A full day of color war competition. Warrior’s and Black Hawks played in their respective age division. They rotated between hand ball, soccer and basketball. I was amazed to see how a hockey major handled the ball on the court. These guys are truly all round athletes.
The final event this afternoon was a three on three half court played by the team captains. The entire camp watched and cheered their captains on.
The weather was perfect for a cook out. After dinner there was a full camp scavenger hunt.
Black Hawkes and Warriors will sleep well tonight and they cheered to have an extra hour sleep tomorrow morning.
Wednesday
We are in full swing with color war. A brief wrap up:
Baseball did a ground ball knockout followed by a game of wiffle ball.
Soccer did games and drills, one of which was a juggling competition between the two teams. The winner managed to juggle 115 times consecutively winning for their team.
Basket ball was a full court relay which the campers had to do push-ups to layups.
Hockey players were shooting for speed and accuracy.
Lax majors were scoring points for shooting accuracy.
In the afternoon there was a cook-off, banner making, and a jeopardy contest. Rookies, pros, and senior rotated to all three events.
At the end of the day their was only one point difference. Don’t ever remember scores being so close.
TUESDAY
As I am writing the buses from Fun-town Splash-town just pulled in. The campers were all charged up. Talking about their favorite rides etc.. The counselors on the other hand looked exhausted. I’m sure everyone will sleep well and appreciate a late wake up.
White Water Rafting just called they will be back safe and sound shortly. They had an amazing adventure. Great time had by all!!!!
Tomorrow we have several campers going out to a tennis tournament. At camp the color war games will begin. Stay tuned.
MONDAY
We had an amazing Monday, Majors were in full swing. As a matter of fact that’s exactly what was happening at baseball. Major were in the cage getting instruction on their swings.
Senior hockey majors suited up in whatever. From no jerseys to sunglasses. They looked funny, but in no way did that carry over into their skating.
Eleven and under campers were out of camp. We had basketball and soccer tournaments.
There were worms to go around and plenty of fish coming out of the lake.
At line up we heard every-ones accomplishments and there were many.
As you read this blog …….. COLOR WAR HAS BROKE
SATURDAY
A picture perfect day at BSC. Hockey majors took over the lake this morning. Free swim at the lake.
Our 15 and under campers went to a basketball tournament. It was a buzzer winner!!!! They lost in the finals but played hard and made us proud.
Hockey skated hard this afternoon. They rotated in five stations with a shoot out in the end.
Campers cheered to be having a movie night. This Sunday campers definitely will be taking advantage of lazy bones Sunday. They played hard all week.
FRIDAY
A picture perfect day. The 13 and under basketball campers left first thing this morning for an inter-camp tournament. There were tryouts for an upcoming baseball game this afternoon.
We are making bull-eyes in archery, catching fish in the lake, getting up on ski’s, celebrating camper birthdays, and capturing the flag for an evening activity.
